Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals injured by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
